ESCC contributes to transport-related air pollution through the requirement for Members and staff to travel to and from work, and for business travel. We have implemented a number of measures to reduce our transport impacts, based on seeking to:

	reduce the need to travel
	encourage the use of transport modes other than cars
	reduce the emissions from our own vehicles

We have reduced our need to travel by:

	encouraging home working, where appropriate, for up to 10 days per year per member of staff
	setting up a trial of "drop-in" work centres around the County

We have encouraged the use of transport other than cars by:

	providing a bicycle mileage allowance for travel on official business
	providing bicycles for work use at County Hall
	providing a range of bicycle storage facilities, as well as showers at County Hall
	providing interest-free loans to staff wanting to buy annual season tickets on public transport

We have reduced the emissions from our own vehicles by:

	purchasing electric vehicles for business mileage
	purchasing dual fuel vehicles for business mileage

ESCC are promoting walking and cycling throughout the year
