Road transport contributes 24% of UK CO2 emissions.

CO2 has no direct health effects but contributes to global warming - an increase in the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere. This is responsible for climate change and scientists predict that we may all soon be affected - directly or indirectly - by increasing extremes of weather including flooding, storms and drought. Globally aircraft release over 600 million tonnes of CO2 causing about 3.5% of global warming from human activities.
